The “Bertoia collection” was the result of carte blanche given to Bertoia by Hans and Florence Knoll who opened their modern furniture company in New York in 1938. Harry Bertoia used the experience he had gained with Charles Eames in working with steel thread. Comprising a mesh of bent steel threads, arranged according to ergonomic shapes, then welded, these chairs and armchairs have become icons of design renewing the traditional typology of the chair.
