The undeniably successful Lounge Chair, is the culmination of research by the designers Charles and Ray Eames with moulded plywood. An ergonomic resting armchair was created on the principle of three shells for the seat and the two parts of the back. Its manufacture demanded technical skills that led the Eames couple to form a partnership with their favourite producer, Herman Miller, with whom they had already developed chairs in glued and moulded laminated wood.
