This drawing room from the Hôtel de Serres on Place Vendôme dates from the last years of the eighteenth century. It is also known as the “Barriol drawing room,” from the name of the decorator who donated it to the museum. As all trace of the mahogany and painted wood furniture commissioned for the room is lost – only the model for the console tables is known – the furniture comprises a set of gilt wood chairs from the 1780s and examples of cabinetwork veneered with satinwood.
