This tapestry is presented with “The Cream Service.” They were both woven in low-warp from still lifes painted in 1766 by Anne Vallayer-Coster (1744-1818). They remained in the storeroom until the fall of the Empire; at the Restoration in 1814, the factory presented them to the Duchesse d’Angoulême, daughter of Louis XVI and sole survivor of the royal family.
