The search for elementary forms is a constant for many designers who refuse the superfluous and retain only the essential, while questioning usual or new functions.

In the immediate post-war period, Jean Prouvé and the Philippon-Lecoq couple asserted this rigorous writing at the service of function. More recently, designers have concentrated on the primacy of discrete and functional design. The label “Supernormal”, created in 2006 by Naoto Fukasawa and Jasper Morrison, advocates design with clear and pure lines. The same year, under the name Normal studio, Jean-François Dingjian and Eloi Chafaï created products developed with a minimum of expressiveness. Martin Szekely has reinvented the table thanks to geometric modules in aluminium, in different colours that lead to infinite compositions.

This room will be closed from 11/11 to 10/12/2024 for the dismantling of the “Parcours Mode, design, bijoux” exhibition.
