This bronze and its companion piece, “Child with a Bird,” were made by Pierre-Philippe Thomire (1757-1843) from terracotta models by Charles-Antoine Bridan (1730-1805). They were inspired by ancient works in the Borghese collection.

The niches are made of three glass panels. The upper section, decorated with coffers and rosettes, is topped by a trophy with musical instruments and masks.
