The sculptor Filippo Parodi (1630-1702), who introduced Bernini’s aesthetic to Genoa, enhanced interior design with the use of sculpture; he was succeeded in this activity by his son Domenico (1668-1740). This wood figure, accompanied by three others, must once have adorned a gallery in a patrician palace ; the colors suggest patinated gilt bronze, a nobler material.
