This nef was presented by Empress Eugénie to Ferdinand de Lesseps on the occasion of the inauguration of the Suez Canal on November 17, 1869. It was displayed at the World’s Fair in London in 1871, at the Exhibition of the Union Centrale in Paris in 1874 and at the Musée Centennal during the World’s Fair in 1900 in Paris.
