This table with well preserved original gilding reflects the emergence of new forms at the end of the reign of Louis XIV. The extremely openworked legs, decorated as if they were made of metal, barely support the weight of the marble table top. The decoration features dragons – fantastic creatures that became very popular in the decorative arts of the first half of the eighteenth century.
